ایستگاه قطار برقی لیچ _{یک گره اصلی شبکه راه آهن اتحادیه اروپاست. یک خط بین لندن، پاریس، بروکسل و آلمان.}

ایستگاه قطار جدید کالاتراوا در لیچ دو قسمت از شهر را که در گذشته به وسیله ریل های راه آن از هم جدا افتاده بودند را به هم متصل کرده است.قسمت شمالی که یک منطقه مسکونی سنتی قرن ١٩ همی به حساب می آید و قسمت جنوبی که یک منطقه مسکونی در بستری از فضای سبز است.

کانسپ طرح شفافیت و یک گفتگو شهری^٢ با شهر بوده است. شفافیت با طاق بزرگ،سازه ای از شیشه و فولاد،و با خیمه ی 145 متری بلد پروازانه ای که 5 سکوی قطار را پوشانده ، ترجمه شده است. ساختمان عظیم شیشه ای به جای نما هایی سنتی جایگزین شده استو باعث تعامل بین فضای داخل ایستگاه و شهر شده است.

تاریخچه:

In 1838, only three years after the first continental railway, a line linking Brussels and Ans, in the northern suburbs of Liège, was opened. The first train station of Liège-Guillemins was inaugurated in May 1842, linking the valley to the upper Ans station. In 1843, the first international railway connection was born, linking Liège to Aachen and Cologne.

آن ایستگاه در سال های ١٨٨٢ و ١٩٠۵ مورد بازسازی قرار گرفت و در سال ١٩۵٨ با یه ایستگاه مدرن (برای زمان خودش) جایگزین شد و این ایسگاه تا ژوئن سال ٢٠٠٧ که کالاتراوا ساخت ایسگاه جدید رو شروع کنه به کار خودش ادامه داد.(عکسی که در پائین می بینید)

 خود کالاتراوا در مورد اثرش اینطور گفته که

"My goal was to create a building that reflects the new stations potential significance as a high speed inter-urban link between Europe’s cities.
I imagined a building without facades with a soaring roof above offering protection from the elements (particularly the ever present rain of the Belgian Winter). This could maintain the views through and of the station. The vaulted shape was a natural development of this vision while the soft (perhaps feminine) undulating curve of the roof was selected to mimic the graceful rise and fall of the Cointe hills beyond.
I felt that there was no better way to celebrate the technological achievement of the TGV trains than to expose the working platforms and the dynamism of the moving ensemble of passengers and trains."
